The Gospel of Matthew-Daily Scripture Readings Update
by admin ~ November 13th, 2009
This week we continued our reading in the gospel of Matthew, working our way through chapters 3 and 4, and just getting into chapter 5 and the beginning of our Lord’s great Sermon on the Mount.
There is much to learn in these opening chapters of Matthew, as this Apostle of our Lord walks us through the birth story, the Star of Bethlehem, and the presentation of the Kingdom that was soon to come–for indeed it was “at hand” as we learn from Christ Himself through Matthew’s record.
As you meditate on God’s word and this great Christian faith of ours, include deliberation on the great ideas presented by Matthew in these early chapters.
For instance, did you know the Star of Bethlehem was not a star at all, but rather an angel from heaven?
Did you know how Matthew’s genealogy is perfectly done, matching up into three sets of fourteen with perfect precision?
Did you know the fulfillment of all that ever happened in Egypt as presented here in but few precious words from Matthew?
Do you see Christ as the fulfillment of Moses the prophet, not only as the greater David and second Adam?
All of this and more we have covered in just this past week, along with more teaching on the glorious Kingdom of God, and the spiritual nature of that Kingdom which truly did come in that very generation.
Well, enough for now. . . If you are already walking daily with us through the New Testament–we trust God is blessing your time in His Word. If you are not already enrolled, but you would like to be, you can join us by enrolling here: Daily Scripture Reading Teaching Service. You can also signup for a complimentary 30 day trial period right on this page in the heading area above. Either way, remember in the meantime to keep yourself in the Word!
And remember to speak God’s love into someone’s life today!
