Next Monday we begin our 2 week DSR Christmas series, starting with a handling of the meaning of the Incarnation of the Christ, then proceeding to the Incarnation itself.
In this post we will review some conclusions we can draw from our Lord’s words in the Sermon on the Mount. We hope you enjoy this summary, as we paraphrase from the early Church and St. John Chrysostom.
In the light of this Advent season, today we answer the question: who were those of whom the Lord said “Depart from Me, ye that work iniquity: I never knew you.”

• Chrysostom (c. 347 – 407), Archbishop of Constantinople and the "Man with the Golden Tongue—the Greatest Preacher in the History of the Church!"
'The belief of such men in the Kingdom of God which lies at the heart of the Gospel of Jesus, and gives its warmth and glow to the religious life of the early church, seems destined in the Christianity of today to become, if possible, even weaker in the coming generations thru the continued failure of the modern church to preach the full Gospel of the Kingdom, especially that middle third between the cross and the resurrection.'

3--The Resurrection
... apart from which you can never truly understand the cross or the Kingdom of God; and
You will experience the power of the necessary implications of the full gospel of the Kingdom:
• The past fulfillment of end times events in the generation of the Christ; and
You will learn to apply the completed victory won by Christ:
• As Administered by His Apostles thru the fulfillment of the Great Commission (even the Reformers understood and taught that the Great Commission was fulfilled in Christ's generation!) prior to the wrath which came upon that final generation there at the end of time and the beginning of eternity in September of 70 AD.
(Historically the Church has always been, to one degree or another, preterist in its teaching and application of the gospel -- the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven! Remember our Lord's most common pronouncement back in the first century of His now some 2000 year old Reign: The Kingdom of Heaven IS AT HAND!)
So What?
• That's the bottom line, isn't it? What's in it for you? What's the big deal? Why should you care anyway?
Well, let me ask you this...
1) Are you tired of being told that this earth is under the curse of sin and death?
2) Are you tired of the big lie? The one where you're told the whole creation is groaning under this supposed heavy burden?
3) Are you tired of hearing that even you yourself are a sinner with a desperately wicked heart?
Early Church Preterism turns this worldview of the modern church, ultimately negative in this life while yet still maintaining a positive thread for the Christian in the next, on its head; and returns your faith back to the original pristine focus of the church — Christ's complete and finished victory!
