"People don't tend to disagree with the beauty of this truth with their mind, instead they find it hard to believe in their heart. Why? Because like me, most of us just find it hard to really believe how great is the Liberty of Christ... but once we do believe, how great is that Liberty!"

    by admin ~ April 1st, 2009

picture-0052This week beginning Monday March 30, 2009 and going through Friday April 3, 2009, in our Audio Bible Online / Online Audio Bible – Daily Scripture Readings, we will make our way through the rest of Mark chapter 14.

As you are listening day-by-day, please feel free to share your comments with the other members of our DSR community by clicking on the comments link for this Post. Last week, a listener shared his excitement about Mark chapter 13 regarding the teaching on the abomination of desolation as taught by the early church fathers. Hearing the historical accounts of the Roman armies surrounding the city under Vespasian, then pulling away and leaving in late 66 AD, only to return under Titus in 70 AD, all while the angelic forces were seen fighting in the sky above the city, was truly amazing.

As always, we enjoy hearing how the Audio Bible Online / Online Audio Bible – Daily Scripture Readings are impacting your daily walk with the Lord, and enhancing your relationship with Him, Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study Forum for April 6-10 Readings

    by admin ~ April 6th, 2009

picture-0053This week beginning Monday April 6, 2009 and going through Friday April 10, 2009, in our Audio Bible Online / Online Audio Bible – Daily Scripture Readings, we will make our way through Mark chapters 15 and 16.

As we make our way through chapters 15 and 16, we will finish out the gospel of Mark. As we do, the flow of the apocalyptic sequence of events taking place over these several days will become abundantly clear. And the power of the Victory of Jesus Christ will overwhelm your heart and soul.

You will see that that Friday in 30 AD was the 14thof the first month, and the Passover day upon which Jesus Christ was crucified. You will also see that immediately after the cross, Jesus Christ descended into Hell, broke down its gates, and called forth all the Old Testament saints–thus the reason we know and celebrate this day as “Good Friday.”

You will see that that special Saturday of 30 AD was the 15thof the first month, and, the fulfillment of the 1st day of Unleavened Bread–and how this was literally the final Saturday sabbath, as on that day our Lord reigned with the called forth saints, there in what had been their prison cells, but had now become “Paradise,” as His presence filled that place. You will also come to understand the initiation and end of the brief existence of what the Bible refers to as “Abraham’s bosom.”

You will also see that that Sunday was the 16th of the first month, and was the day of the Wave Sheaf offering, and that the physical rising from the tomb of the Christ, was the fulfillment of the Old Testament festival of the Wave Sheaf offering–a fulfillment that then implemented the new Sunday Sabbath day!

So, this week, as we get closer and closer to Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Resurrection Sunday, we trust that you will be greatly blessed by your listening to these Readings and the accompanying contextual commentary. As you prepare to celebrate the incredible and powerful victorious work of Jesus Christ as He passed through the flesh and set the captives free, always remember that He has already gained the victory over Satan for all eternity! This week, let us together come to a greater understanding of the true depth of this Victory won by Jesus Christ some two thousand years ago by His passing through the flesh, and His victorious battle against Satan and the fallen angels directly after the cross on that wondrous Good Friday afternoon. Only then can we come to a true understanding of the glorious Resurrection and Ascension.

As you are listening day-by-day, please feel free to share your comments with the other members of our DSR community by clicking on the comments link for this Post. Last week, we had several comments that you should review as I think you will find them both interesting and inspiring.

As always, we enjoy hearing how the Audio Bible Online / Online Audio Bible – Daily Scripture Readings are impacting your daily walk with the Lord, and enhancing your relationship with Him, Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study Forum for April 13-17: Christ’s Victory in Hell over Satan according to the Early Church Fathers

    by admin ~ April 9th, 2009

picture-0055Jesus Christ descended into Hell as a mighty warrior directly after the cross, defeating Satan, casting him into the bottomless pit, breaking down the gates of Hell, and setting the captives free. This is why we call it “Good” Friday. Understanding the events of that day, along with the events of Holy Saturday, provide the means by which we can then understand the true glory of Resurrection Sunday. On that day, Jesus Christ proved in the physical world the events of the previous few days in the spiritual world by literally raising His physical body from the dead; literally walking out of that grave in victory. These events, along with the ascension, provide the means for our present indestructible Way into Heaven.

This was the teaching of our DSR this week, as we are set to finish up the gospel of Mark on Friday, April 10, 2009. This Post is early this week in honor of the Holy Days of this special weekend.

As an added bonus, please enjoy what the Early Church Fathers had to say on this subject of Jesus Christ’s victorious battle in Hell directly after the cross! Keep in mind that they, like us, maintained that only the saints were freed from captivity in Hell; freed when Jesus entered Hell, taken to Heaven at His ascension. Hell and the Lake of Fire remain for those choosing not to believe the simple and clear message of the gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

    Origen (around 185/186 to 254/255 A.D.) Regarding Psl. 68:18

“Christ drew up and set free from the recesses of hades, the souls that were held in captivity.”

    Eusebius Of Caesarea 315 A.D.

“Christ, caring for the salvation of all, and bursting the eternal gates, opened a way of return to life for the dead bound in chains of death.”

    Saint Athanasius (around 293 to 373 A.D.)

“While the devil thought to kill one, he is deprived of all cast out of hades, and sitting by the gates, sees all the fettered beings led forth by the courage of the Saviour.”

Basil Of Seleucia (died around 457 to 460 A.D.)

“That which happened to the visible tomb of Christ (i.e. its being emptied on His rising), the same happened to hades the invisible.”

    St. Hilary 354 A.D.

“Christ ascended on high took (captured) those who had been captured by the devil.”

    M.F. Victorinus 360 A.D.

“The Saviour descends into hades by that passion of the cross in order that He may set free every soul.”

    St. Ambrose 375 A.D.

“In the liberation of all, no one remains a captive; at the time of the Lord’s passion he alone (the devil) was injured, who lost all the captives he was keeping.”

    St. Basil (around 329 to 379 A.D., from 370 A.D.)

“The true Shepherd brought out of the prison of hades, and handed over to the holy angels, the sheep for whom He died.”

    St. Ambrose 375 A.D.

“The Lord descends to the infernal world, in order that even those, who were in perpetual abodes, should be set free from their perpetual bonds.”

The Ambrosiaster (attributed to St. Ambrose)

“Christ descending to the infernal abodes condemned death, taking from him those whom he was keeping.”

Maximus Of Turin (around 380 to 465 A.D.)

“Hell (Tartarus) yields up those it contains to the upper world: the earth sends to heaven those whom it buries.”

“Christ carried off to heaven mankind whose cause He undertook, snatched from the jaws of hades.

Caesarus Of Arles (around 468 to 542 A.D.)

“The eternal night of hell is illuminated as Christ descends the bonds of the damned, torn asunder, fell away every cry of the groaning still. The captive souls loosed from bonds go forth from hell (Tartarus), and the Apostle’s words come true, i.e., in Jesus’ name every knee bends of things in heaven, and earth, and under the earth.”

    Epiphanius

“Christ, like a swift-winged hawk, snatched away all that He had from the beginning, from the devil and left him deserted.”

    St. Chrysostom 398 A.D.

“While the devil imagined that he had got hold of Christ (in hades), he lost all in fact whom he was keeping.

    Cyril Of Alexandria 412 A.D.

“Christ left the devil there solitary and deserted.”

    Theodoret 430 A.D.

To the devil Christ declares….”I mean to open the prison of death for the rest, but will shut up thee only. Thou wast justly despoiled of all thy subjects.

Proclus, Bishop of Constantinople 434 A.D.

“Today Christ emptied the entire treasury of death.”

“All the dead, wondering at His passion, cry for joy, we are healed by His stripes.”

Saint Chrysostom (In reference to 1 Peter)

“Christ, he asserts, not merely opened, but broke in pieces the gates of brass, in order to make the prison useless, where there is neither door, nor bar, whosoever enters is not detained. What God destroys, who can set up again? Earthly kings indeed set free prisoners, yet leave untouched the prison gates; but Christ broke in pieces the gates of brass. Christ went to the utterly black and joyless portion of hades, and turned it into heaven, transferring all its wealth, the race of man, into His royal treasury. In this, too, Christ surpasses kings, for they send messengers, but He went in person to set the captives free. So again, he says: “Our Lord, when He was in hades, set free all who were kept prisoners by death.”

    Cyril Of Alexandria 412 A.D.

“The devil was deprived of all power of being able to do anything for the future. The souls of men who had been caught in his toils to their ruin, came out of the underground gates, and, leaving the hiding-places of the pit escape”

“Traversing the lowest recesses of the infernal regions, after that He had preached to the spirits there, He led forth the captives in His strength. For when death devoured Him who was the Lamb on behalf of all, it vomited forth all men in Him and with Him. Now when sin has been destroyed, how should it be but that death, too, should wholly perish?”

On the death of Christ, “All iniquity stopped its mouth, and the rule of death was destroyed, all sin (tes hamartias, sin generally) having been taken away, so, then, the sin of all having been taken away, we can justly say, ‘O death where is thy sting?’”

    Theodoret, the Blessed, 423 A.D.

Theodoret became Bishop of Cyrus (Cyrrhus), in Syria he wrote of the liberation of every soul from hades.

“I shall shut up thee only… ‘Thou,’ says Christ to satan, ‘art justly despoiled of all thy subjects. Thou shalt vomit forth all that thou hast already swallowed. I shall free all from death for I paid the debt for the race.’ As the debt has been paid, it is right that those confined on account of it should be set free from their prison.”

Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study Forum for April 20-24 Readings: The Great Commission Fulfilled

    by admin ~ April 19th, 2009

picture-0055-124x1501The Great Commission–Fulfilled! Learn more of this teaching in the Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study Podcast Service, where you will see that the Apostles, Paul along with the other twelve, were given the Great Commission by our Lord in Matthew 28:18-20. And, according to Ancient Christian Truth, fulfilled this Great Commission prior to the end of that Age, prior to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 AD. This simple truth lays the foundation for our reading from the Epistle to the Romans, readings we began this past week and will continue in the following weeks.

Hear the words of St. Chrysostom, one of the most well respected Church Fathers (who lived in the fourth century), as he attests quite plainly, and in rather certain and emphatic terms, that the Apostles had indeed successfully implemented the Kingdom. First, recall what Paul wrote in Romans 10:18, “But when I ask myself: ‘Did they never hear?’ I have to answer that they have heard, for ‘Their sound has gone out to all the earth, and their Word to the ends of the world.’” Now, how did Chysostom and the early Church Fathers interpret these verses? Hear Chrysostom’s own words:

“Now, therefore Jesus added moreover, ‘And this gospel shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all nations, and then shall the end come,’ [the end, that is,] of the downfall of Jerusalem.

“For in proof that Jesus meant this, and that before the taking of Jerusalem the gospel was preached, hear what Paul says, ‘Their sound went into all the earth.’ (Romans 10:18) And again, ‘The gospel which was preached to every creature which is under Heaven.’ (Colossans 1:23) And do you see Paul running from Jerusalem unto Spain? And if one took so large a portion, consider what the rest also wrought. For writing to others also, Paul again says concerning the gospel, ‘That it is bringing forth fruit, and growing up in every creature which is under Heaven.’ (see Colossians 1:23)

“But what means, ‘For a witness to all nations?’ Forasmuch as though it [the gospel] was everywhere preached [and thus the Great Commission fulfilled], yet it was not everywhere believed. It was for a witness, He says, to them that were disbelieving, that is, for conviction, for accusation, for a testimony; for they that believed will bear witness against them that believed not, and will condemn them. And for this cause, after the gospel was preached in every part of the world, Jerusalem was destroyed, that they may not have so much as a shadow of an excuse for their perverseness. For they that saw His power shine throughout every place, and in an instant take the world captive, what excuse could they then have for continuing in the same perverseness? For in proof that it was everywhere preached at that time, hear what Paul says, ‘Of the gospel which was preached to every creature which is under Heaven.’ (Colossians 1:23)

“Which also is a very great sign of Christ’s power, that in twenty or at most thirty years the Word had reached the ends of the world. After this therefore, says Jesus, shall come the end of Jerusalem. For that Jesus intimates this was manifested by what follows.”

So we see that the early Church Fathers taught very plainly of the fulfillment of the Great Commission in that generation of our Lord, prior to the end of the Age which came in 70 AD at the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. As we come to understand this Ancient Christian Truth, how do we then apply it to our present reality?

First, we must recognize that the Lord Jesus Christ is known everywhere in both the Heaven, the earth, and under the earth! and that all men are without excuse who choose not to believe in Him. Indeed, the single greatest selling book in all the world remains, year after year, the Bible, the story of this Jesus Christ and the triune God’s visible manifestation unto men.

Second, we must move on from the work the Apostles already completed, and live in dominion within God’s present Kingdom, a Kingdom already come in 30 AD at the resurrection, and implemented through the Administration of the Apostles in that generation, prior to the fall of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 AD. We are to fulfill our dominion mandate within this present Kingdom, for far from being a “scar” upon the land, we instead hear: ” … from Jesus Christ, which is that faithful witness, and that firstborn of the dead, and that Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and made us a Kingdom, priests unto God, even His Father, to Him I say be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5-6) “And hast made us a Kingdom, and priests unto our God, and we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:10). You see, this earth, having been reconciled by the already accomplished work of Jesus Christ, and having had the Kingdom implemented within it by the Administration of the Apostles, is now our training ground for our ultimate role in Heaven.

This is Ancient Christian Truth. This is the mandate the Church followed for almost two thousand years. Even in all the centuries, as Christian nation after Christian nation sprung up around the world, it was because Christian men and women were living in the present Kingdom, implementing the laws of Jesus Christ and raising up His name always and everywhere. They were never waiting for a future day, but always living in the present Kingdom of Jesus Christ. And, as we have already seen in the Epistle to the Romans, and as we will continue to see as we proceed, this is that about which Paul so eloquently writes. Jesus Christ did indeed descend into Hell as a mighty warrior directly after the cross, defeating Satan, casting him into the bottomless pit, breaking down the gates of Hell, and setting the captives free. Jesus Christ did arise from the grave and ascend into Heaven. The Apostles did fulfill the great commission. And it is up to every generation coming after to live in this victory, to live in this present Kingdom complete with the already implemented indestructible Way unto Heaven, and provide the healing balm of Jesus Christ unto every age–in communion with His victorious reign already accomplished in Heaven, earth, and under the earth.

Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study Forum for May 4-8, 2009 Readings: All things are in subjection under His feet!

    by admin ~ May 4th, 2009

picture-0051“Thou hast put all things in subjection under His feet!” This means all things! Even right now! Learn what it means, “but now we see not yet all things put under Him.” You can learn more of this teaching in the Daily Bible Study podcast service, where you will see that in truth all things really are already now subject to the Lord. For Jesus Christ already is the reigning King of Kings and Lord of Lords; even in this world where we are still grieved. You see, it is true that we see in each generation there are those “not yet” subject (that is, at least not in their own minds), but when their time comes, at their death when they pass over from this life to the next, they will, as all men, cry out before the throne of the Living God the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord and God–yes, even those destined for Hell and the Lake of Fire! This is Ancient Christian Truth, and the victorious message of the early Church. And a part of the foundation for our reading from the Epistle to the Romans.

Hear the words of St. Chrysostom, one of the most well respected Church Fathers (who lived in the fourth century), as he addresses Hebrews chapter 2:

“What is man that Thou art mindful of him, or the son of man that Thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels: Thou crownedst him with glory and honor. Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet.”

Now although these things were spoken of human nature generally, they would nevertheless apply more properly to Christ according to the flesh. For this, “Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet,” belongs to Him rather than to us. For the Son of God visited us when we were nothing: and after having assumed our nature, and united it to Himself, He became higher than all. [A Finished Work!]

“For,” he says, “in that He hath put all things in subjection under Him, He left nothing not put under Him: but now we see not yet all things put under Him.” What he means is this: since he had said, “until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool,” and it was likely that they would still be grieved, then having inserted a few things after this parenthetically, he added this testimony in confirmation of the former. For that they might not say, How is it that He hath put His enemies under His feet, when we have suffered so much? he sufficiently hinted at it in the former place indeed (for the word “until” showed, not what should take place immediately, but in course of time) but here he followeth it up. For do not suppose (he says) that because they have not yet been made subject, they are not to be made subject: for that they must be made subject, is evident; for, on this account was the prophecy spoken. “For,” he says, “in that He hath put all things under Him, He left nothing not put under Him.” How then is it that all things have not been put under Him? Because they are hereafter to be put under Him.

This teaching of Chrysostom should be crystal clear: All things really already are put in subjection to the Lord, including sin, death, and the devil; but within each generation of mankind living on this earth, those still warring against the Lord will seem not to be in subjection. This is an illusion. The believer’s comfort comes in this, knowing that those seemingly not in subjection are deceiving themselves, they are but an illusion. In truth, we know that all things are truly in subjection, and even the unbelievers will bend the knee, and confess the Lord, when they pass from this life to the next and desperately seek to avoid being cast into utter darkness at their judgment before the throne of the Living God.

Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study & Scripture Reading Forum for May 11-15, 2009 Podcasts: The Pharisees–They gave up God: and therefore God gave them up.

    by admin ~ May 11th, 2009
    Paul Rakowicz

“They gave up God: and therefore God gave them up.” (Romans 1:24a). And so, they were “hated by God.” (Romans 1:30, see Liddell-Scott for definition). When we understand that Jesus Christ is a great and mighty warrior, victorious in every imaginable way; that Jesus Christ is the Incarnation of the very same God that showed forth His righteous judgment time and again in the Old Testament; that Jesus Christ brought judgment upon these most wicked men in that very generation; we can then understand the full force of these verses. Remember, Paul was a Pharisee before he amended his ways, so he knew well the evil of these Pharisees to which he is referring, and their hardened hearts which caused them to be given up and “hated” by our Lord and our God, Jesus Christ.

Consider the red-letter words of our Lord in regard to these very same scribes and Pharisees Paul just referred to: “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” (Matthew 23:23-28) “Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” (Matthew 23:33)

As we continue to read through the Epistle to the Romans, and study its application in our lives, we need to be careful to not fall under the sway of the scribes and Pharisees. Remember, we teach from the perspective of Ancient Christian Truth, and from this perspective it was never in form but always in essence that the Apocalyptic teaching of Jesus Christ was understood to be applicable in every generation. So we understand that the Pharisees were alive and well in Jesus’ day, having been building their evil traditions since the Babylonian captivity; and we understand that they can be found in every generation since, including our own. In every generation, they twist and turn every word of God, every law of God, into the exact opposite of what God intended. So Jesus says of them ” … Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.” (Matthew 15:6) “But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:9)

What we need to do is learn to apply the unadulterated Word of God in our heart, and the unadulterated Law of God in our daily lives. Even every aspect of our daily lives need to be brought under the continuing relevancy of the law of God. This is the Victorious Worldview of Ancient Christian Truth. As John said: “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.” (1 John 5:2-3)

As we continue our reading through the book of Romans, you will see that Paul will make this more and more clear. And as we continue our reading, keep in mind that we don’t want to be as the scribes and Pharisees; we don’t want to give up God and His Law, thus bringing upon ourselves God’s judgment. What we really want is to keep always before our eyes the simple truth that ” … the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” (Proverbs 6:23)

Paul’s Primers Daily Bible Study & Scripture Reading Forum for May 18-22, 2009 Podcasts: Circumcision is of the heart.

    by admin ~ May 19th, 2009

picture-0053“I have come to the conclusion that a true Judean is not the man who is merely a Judean outwardly, and a real circumcision is not just a matter of the body. The true Judean is one who belongs to God in heart, a man whose circumcision is not just an outward physical affair but is a God-made sign upon the heart and soul, and results in a life lived not for the approval of man, but for the approval of God.” (Romans 2:28-29) Jesus Christ is God, as He is the visible manifestation of the one triune God; so, it is His children, the Christians, who have the God-made sign upon their heart and soul, it is the Christians who live life not for the approval of man, but for the approval of the one true and ever-living God.

Now the judgment of Paul declaring all men sinners, and the hope of Paul declaring all men one with God through faith in the Son, is one of the lessons learned here from his writings early on in the book of Romans. It is not that he is replacing the Judeans, for he himself was a Judean, and we, like the Apostle Paul, do not believe in replacement theology. It is not that he is removing the Judeans, for we, like the Apostle Paul, believe that all men can be saved. It is that he is calling all men, in the very same way, both Judean and Gentile, to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Paul, the former Pharisee, is writing of fulfilled theology. He is making clear that since the Advent of the Apocalyptic figure of the Christ and the subsequent extending of God’s relationship with mankind, all men can now be equally and in the very same way grafted onto the one root, Jesus Christ, the firstborn of a new creation. All men are equally sinners and fall short of the glory of God; and all men are equally saved in only one and the same way, by faith alone in the Son of God.

As you consider these things, always remember that we teach from the perspective of Ancient Christian Truth, and from this perspective it was never in form but always in essence that the Apocalyptic teaching of Jesus Christ was understood to be applicable in every generation. Therefore, we can understand that unbelievers were alive and well in Jesus’ day; and we can understand that unbelievers can be found in every generation since, including our own. We can also understand that in every generation, each man and woman has the same offer of salvation as every other man and woman, salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Circumcision of the flesh will provide no man a free pass. Not in Paul’s day, and not in ours. Circumcision of the flesh will not get anyone into heaven. Not in Paul’s day, and not in ours. The days of relying on physical genealogy ended in and with the Christ. Therefore, only circumcision of the heart will get anyone into heaven. Both in Paul’s day, and in ours.

So, with this simple teaching of Paul, we come to yet another simple truth, a truth verified by the early Church fathers: that since the Christ the unbelieving Judeans, and really unbelievers in general, are like all other men–bound to earth by their flesh, obtaining heaven by nothing but faith in Christ alone. There is no other way. And there is no other plan.

Hear the words of Peter confirming these things as he speaks to Christians everywhere and throughout all the generations of our Lord’s continuing eternity: ” … you are God’s ‘chosen race,’ His ‘royal priesthood,’ His ‘holy nation,’ His ‘peculiar people’–all the old titles of God’s people now belong to you. It is for you now to demonstrate the goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. In the past you were not ‘a people’ at all: but now you are the people of God! In the past you had no experience of His mercy, but now it is intimately yours!” (1 Pet 2:9-10)
