Is Christmas Just About A Baby?

by admin ~ December 11th, 2009

Picture 005Hello and welcome to today’s post during this greatest of all seasons–the season where we celebrate the signal event of all history–the Incarnation of the Living God!

How often do you wonder about this Christmas season: the rampant commercialization, the bustle that tends to have us forget the reason for the season, even the taking of Christ out of the season altogether! Well, we have a solution to all of that…

Yes, if you have been considering getting started with our DSR service, now is a great time to do so. If this is your first time hearing about it, now is a great time to try it out! Why? Because next Monday we begin our Christmas series.

In this 2 week series, we will help you celebrate Christmas in the fullness of the living God’s Incarnation, that is in the meat of the Word; not with just the milk. You will see that indeed the story of Christmas is not just about a  baby, but it is oh so much more!

In the first week, we will survey the greatness of the Incarnation, showing forth God in Christ (yes, Jesus Christ was and is God) and the true significance of His Tabernacling among men. The five part series of the first week will include:

  • The meaning of Christ as God in His bodily youth (Luke’s story)
  • John the Baptist and Christ’s Baptism
  • The Temptation of Christ
  • The Witness of John the Baptist and Christ’s Fulfillment of Isaiah
  • The initial walk of Jesus and the selection of the 12 Apostles

In the second week, in the light of the first weeks teaching we will cover the actual story of His birth, using our Integrated gospel to provide the full story of this signal event of all human history:

  • Christ’s Birth Part 1 – The genealogy (Matthew does make sense!)
  • Christ’s Birth Part 2 – Angelic annunciation
  • Christ’s Birth Part 3 – Birth of John the Baptist
  • Christ’s Birth Part 4 – Birth of the Christ
  • Christ’s Birth Part 5 – Presentation of the Christ & the story of the Magi and the Star of Bethlehem (which indeed was no star!)

Now, you may be wondering, what is the DSR? Well, it is a podcast service bringing you Daily Scripture Readings wrapped each day in a uniquely educational and spiritually uplifting Inductive Bible Study. In other words, along with the Scripture Reading, you get the who, what, when, where and why of the verses, along with the how! All of this in less than 10 minutes a day directly from our website through your computer speakers or your mobile phone.

As is true of all of our teaching, we provide you this service in the light of Kingdom Fulfilled Theology–the original teaching of Jesus Christ and His Apostles, as evidenced in the best writings from the very best and brightest of the Early Church Fathers. You can check out my background and education in these matters by visiting Our Story.

Well, that’s all for today. . . If you are already walking daily with us through the New Testament–we trust God is blessing your time in His Word. If you are not already enrolled, but you would like to be, you can join us by enrolling here: DSR Teaching Service. No matter your choice, please remember in the meantime to keep yourself in the Word, especially during this Christmas season!

And remember to speak God’s love into someone’s life today!
