The Meaning of Christmas: The Kingdom Come
by admin ~ December 14th, 2009
Christmas time is about many things, but I think, most of all, it is about the Advent of the Kingdom.
Now why do I say this? Because, in the end, that is what the birth of the Christ child represents, the Advent of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Think about it: How often did Jesus say “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!” If I recall correctly, not only was this a regularly recurring theme of His ministry, but too this is how He actually began His ministry, with such pronouncement. And ended it as well, saying “it is finished,” referring of course to His work on this earth to bring about this Kingdom.
Now understanding the nature of this Kingdom is vital, and understanding how our Lord successfully brought this Kingdom into being even more so. So this Christmas season, I want to challenge you to dig deeper than just a celebration of the baby Jesus, and come to understand the true depth of this most holy time of year.
In so doing, I suspect you will find a deep and enduring power; something that will allow you to both enhance and then maintain a closer walk with the Lord. I also believe you will obtain a far more powerful means of interacting with your loved ones, for understanding our present Kingdom state will energize all of us in our desire to love one another.
May God bless you during this Holy-Day season. . .
