The story behind our unique Online Ministry goes something like this: After having studied the Bible for more than twenty-five years, I found myself drawn and compelled to compile a New Testament for my family, one that preserved the full heritage of our beautiful Christian faith while at the same time allowed for the “regular” person (non theological scholars such as my wife and children) to comprehend its deepest meanings. Using textual translations from hundreds of sources made available over the course of hundreds of years by the work of countless men and women, including the original English version by William Tyndale for which he was eventually burned at the stake in 1536, I compiled a “best-of-the-best” version for my family. If you will, let me share the background of the story of our journey that led to, and ultimately resulted in, my embarking on this unique New Testament compilation, and from there, this family-centered Ministry.
Our Story
Many years ago, as my wife and I began the wonderful adventure of raising our children (an adventure that continues yet today), we were faced with some very difficult questions. We wanted to raise our children in a Christian way, one that would allow them to fulfill the fullness of their destiny, but were wary of the obvious failures of present-day Christianity. To understand these concerns, one need but study the statistics regarding how many children leave the faith as they enter their adolescent and young adult years (a staggering loss rate of over eighty percent!). So, I began to deepen my studies—studies that had been ongoing since my earliest days—and these studies became the core mission of my life. I read the Bible over and over. I read the New Testament over and over. I read every translation of the New Testament I could get my hands on. I studied the many and varied Christian denominations. I studied early church history. I studied the flow of cultures throughout the ages. Then, I began to piece together the full story of the gospel message for the benefit and understanding of my wife and children. I took the good from the church, I took the good from history, I took the good from the church’s ongoing fragmentation (taking the good from each of the many different denominations), and I pieced it all together. As a born teacher and “clarifier,” I sought the simple elegance evident in all real truth, and pieced together a “best-of-the-best” New Testament from all of my studies.
One thing I found during this spiritual journey, was that the full gospel message of Jesus Christ was the single most compelling story I had ever come across! So amazing, in fact, that I felt if I could just compile a text that would allow the story to truly sparkle and shine, my children would be so attracted to it, that they would not only grow up as Christians, but remain so as they reached their adolescent and young adult years.
